What is a Mobile Notary?

As a notary public in Tulsa, Oklahoma, my role, appointed by the state, involves providing services to the public. This role encompasses verifying the identity of signers by way of their state-approved identification, acknowledging the execution of documents, or administering an oath and witnessing the signing of the document. However, it is important to clarify that my duties do not include providing legal advice, filling out documents, or confirming the accuracy or legal efficacy of the documents. My primary responsibility as a notary public in Oklahoma is limited to the verification of the identity of individuals signing the documents.

Why get something notarized?

Some documents legally require notarization, or the process of having an impartial person (the notary) witness a signature. Certain business scenarios may also necessitate notarized signatures when the person signing isn’t able to be at the document’s final location. For example, a document might be headed to California, but the person signing it is in Oklahoma. In these cases, businesses might ask for a notary’s services to feel more assured that the signer really did sign the document they received in the mail.

What is a Signing Agent?

A Notary Signing Agent (NSA), also known as a Loan Signing Agent, is a specialized notary public who is trained to handle and notarize loan documents. These professionals are commonly used in the real estate industry where they help to facilitate mortgage closings.

Do I need an appointment?

Do you need to schedule a time for us to meet? It really depends on our current schedule. Most of the time, you don’t need to set a specific time, but it’s always a good idea to call ahead and arrange a meeting. That way, we can make sure our mobile notary is available to assist you when and where you need it. Why do I need to bring proof of identity and proof of address?

You might wonder why you need to provide proof of identity and address. This is because a notary’s role is to verify the identity of the person signing the document. This ensures the security and legality of the transaction. Proof of identity, typically a government-issued ID like a driver’s license or passport, confirms you are who you say you are. Proof of address, like a utility bill or bank statement, helps to further verify your identity and location. This process protects everyone involved and is a standard requirement in notary procedures.

How much does a mobile notary charge?

A mobile notary can decide how much to charge for their services. The price can change depending on things like how far the notary has to travel and how many signatures they need to notarize. In Oklahoma, the most a notary can charge for checking each signature is $5. This is a rule set by the state and all notaries have to follow it. However, the state doesn’t limit how much a notary can charge for other things like travel or extra services.
